Hello there. It’s been quite a while since I did my weekly exercise in gratitude, I know. I haven’t been away because I wasn’t feeling thankful. I’ve been trying to focus on my blog, but other things keep grabbing my attention – real life things. I do, however, miss my fellow TToT-ers like crazy, and I miss interacting with my friends who read these posts a lot. So, here I am with my Ten Things of Thankful right now. I’d like to promise I’m back for good, but I’m just going to promise I’ll try.
So much has happened since I last posted – some good, some bad. We lost our kitty friend Roger to kidney failure a couple weeks ago. It happened very suddenly and we had to make a decision that was next to impossible. While I’m so so sad he’s no longer with us, I’m very thankful for the twelve years we had together. I’m thankful he chose us. You see, we found him as a teeny tiny little stray kitten outside all alone. We would put food out for him and gradually he would come closer and closer to us. One day he decided to walk into our house and he never left. He was a quirky little guy. He loved water and practically lived in the bathtub, scaring the bejezus out of many a guest using our bathroom for the first time. We will miss him always.
In better news, I finally had my last follow up with my hip surgeon, who gave me the green light to do whatever I want. He said the more active I stay the better. I am over the moon having the ability to move without pain, and I vow to never again take movement for granted. I absolutely made the right decision having my hips replaced now, even though some doctors felt I was “too young”. I have a quality of life that I haven’t had in years, and I will be able to enjoy my life before I get old enough for their liking.
Staying true to my vow, I have joined a local gym and I’ve been going every day at 5:00 AM. Some people cringe when they hear that I go in the morning before work, but I love starting my day there. I actually have energy all day long. I’m currently not focusing on weight loss, but simply building strength and flexibility. As an added bonus, I have lost 8 pounds so far. I am challenging myself to do more each day and it feels amazing.
I have been entertaining myself by finally reading the Harry Potter books. I like to say that I’m about 10 years late, but Vince ever so nicely reminded me that I’m more like twenty years late. Late or not, I am thoroughly enjoying the series. I’m on the 5th book now. Even more awesome is that Ayla, who is not much of a reader (she prefers math, science and non-fiction things), is on the 3rd book and loving them as much as I am.
I know there are so many more things of thankful I could share with you, but since I’m writing this on the last day of the link-up and I have a million things to do today, I’m going to sign off by saying THANK YOU for reading. I’m grateful for you.
What are you grateful for today? Feel free to share in the comments (it feels good!).
